One of the most popular personal development topics is “how to discover your purpose.” It seems everyone is trying to figure out what they are meant to do or be. The thing is, you may be one, like myself at one point, who believes that there is one big purpose for you in this life and because you don’t think you’ve found it yet, it causes you to feel stress and frustration. You may feel down because you feel unfulfilled in what you are currently doing, yet you don’t know what you “should” be doing to fulfill your purpose. There are a rare few who do, in fact, come into this life for one primary purpose, but for most of us, our life translates into having many smaller, yet still extremely significant purposes. Perhaps you can relate. In your desperation for answers and direction, you may ask for guidance from God, but believe that you are not receiving any answers. You may wonder why God isn’t helping you or you may blame yourself for not being tuned in enough to receive guidance and answers to what you are meant to do. Both young and old ask this question about purpose. If you are younger, you may not feel so defeated or stressed if you don’t yet know your purpose or the direction that you want to take your life. But if you’re older, either still working or retired, this question burns within you much more intensely.
There is a burning desire that builds inside of you to find things that make you feel that your existence is “purposeful.” Perhaps you think about your age and what you have done throughout your life, and still feel that you have not fulfilled enough or been purposeful enough. You may even feel that “time is running out.” From a spiritual perspective, your purpose is the same as everyone else’s—to learn the truth of love. In a nutshell, that is what this whole human experience is about at its very core and is part of what is expressed in the book, Love is the Seed: Teachings from the Spirit World. The way in which you learn and experience this love is unique to you. So, if you are feeling stressed about your purpose, wondering, "What in the world am I supposed to be doing with my life?" I would first tell you to go out and do things that you enjoy. Start there. And while you are doing that, give of yourself, be of service in some way, because when you give, you receive (that is a natural Law of Love expressed by Wise Ones in the book Love is the Seed: Teachings from the Spirit World), and what you will find that you receive as you do all of this, is the answer to your purpose. What you also find is that you are living “purposefully” (and more joyfully). So, what are you passionate about? What are some ways that you can do to express this passion? Do you wish to volunteer with a specific group of people or for a specific purpose? Who can you help with your unique gifts through your work/career? Just start anywhere, no matter how small. If your passion is to help the soldiers in some way, then find a soldier buddy to write to or compile and send care packages. If you love drawing, volunteer at a kids’ art workshop. If you enjoy nature, join a hiking group. When you relax in something you are passionate about, you allow a natural flow of life to move through you, and when it does, answers and that next thing that you’re meant to do will be revealed to you. But don’t take it from me, look within. As expressed in the book Love is the Seed: Teachings from the Spirit World, Monday, November 9, 1981, Session 42: “There is always a purpose for entering and re-entering life after life in form. This purpose is usually not a singular purpose, but rather a group of purposes consisting of a soul purpose, a debt purpose (resolving karma), and a loving and contributing purpose.” What are those things that translate as your loving and contributing purpose? --- You are free to share this or any part of this article as long as you link back to and credit this blog article.- www.LoveIsTheSeed.com.
