Actually, the original, full title of this article is, “Yes, I'm Spiritual, You Idiot!”: The Art of Balancing a Spiritual Life with Your Physical Life. I thought that this title is a pretty accurate illustration of the reality of this life for most having this human experience. You know you are a part of something greater and you seek to connect with it, but it can be quite difficult to maintain it. You may read books that inspire a spiritual awakening, remind you to be mindful, help you to accept yourself and the moment, or understand the power of your thoughts. These books do help to bring you into the energy of amazing grace and greater joy, but then, as many say, "life happens." Someone cuts you off while driving, your kids push your buttons, your boss makes you feel undervalued, and suddenly all that “Zen” you felt goes out the window and you are calling someone a jerk or yelling at your kids. You've "lost it." But did you really lose that spiritual connection? Where and why did it go? You know that you are a "spiritual person." You are loving and caring and even patient for the most part, so what happens in those moments and why does it seem like a switch is being uncontrollably flipped, turning off that connection to the love, peace, acceptance, patience, etc. that you once had?
I was walking out to my car one morning from the grocery store and a man in a large truck drove by and proceeded to stop and back up into a parking space. At the same time, a car was leaving and driving up behind him; when the person in the car saw him backing into the space, she honked. It is unclear whether she was not paying attention and did not see his intention to back up, thus she was afraid her car would be hit, or if she was just upset that he was taking so long to back up. Immediately the man in the truck yelled obscenities at her for honking, calling her all kinds of names, before she got around his truck and drove away. Now, having just recently written two books, Love is the Seed: Teachings from the Spirit World and The Three Supreme Gifts: A Practical Approach to Self-Mastery and to Transforming Your Life Here and Now, (both scheduled to be released late 2019!) I know that both of these individuals are likely very kind and friendly in their own ways, but they just “lost it.” Life is a delicate dance between the spiritual part of you and the physical part of you—meaning you as “soul” and you as “personality.” Both “you” and your soul are having this human experience, but they are not one and the same. Your soul is the essence of who you are and is directly connected to your Higher Self and to the energy from which it came—God. That is what you can say is the “spiritual” part of you. When you, as soul, come into form, you already have within you a “DNA” of sorts, and as part of that “DNA” are thoughts that you have carried throughout various human lifetimes. It is your soul that has chosen to come into this life in form. When coming in, you have love at your core and are given the additional gifts of thought and free will. And then you have the physical part of you. As a part of the physical is your personality. Your soul is what gives life to the personality part of “you.” With the personality comes the ego (a false-self), thoughts and associated emotions that come with those thoughts, as well as then the reactions to those thoughts. When you identify in a deeper way with your soul—that loving, divine part of you—you are able to stay connected to that spiritual part of you, especially in the midst of undesirable situations. It is your free will to choose from what perspective you want to see your life, including every connection and experience in it. That spiritual part of you desires for you to act and react with love, understanding and kindness and the personality part of you may be so tapped into negative thoughts that it is hard to see this aspect of love (in yourself or others), thus you react with unkindness or impatience. Again, it is a delicate dance. When you can see your world more from the perspective of your soul—from the perspective of that piece of God that is within you and all—you can have what is termed in Love is the Seed: Teachings from the Spirit World, as “wise eyes.” That when you create from the heart—from the energy of “love-given”—you receive back the same multiplied many times. When you choose to act from this part of yourself, your reactions are more loving and kind, and you maintain your “spiritual connection.” --- You are free to share this or any part of this article as long as you link back to and credit this blog article.- www.LoveIsTheSeed.com.
